20 November 2015 State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan Prepares to Display New Exhibits

Deputy Director for Science Jahongir Temirhodjaev told about new exhibits in details:

“New trends in the art of Uzbekistan can be seen in the recent acquisitions of new works of artists of the museum. They emerged after independence. So, one of the most important new exhibits is a work by the People's Artist of Uzbekistan, academician of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, Akmal Nur, "Navruz. Girlfriends". The picture of Dilorom Mamedova "Women of Surkhandaryo" and graphic sheets of P. Haitov are very interesting. We have purchased a set of national furniture made by famous woodcarver H. Adilov. He added exhibits, telling about contemporary directions of Tashkent school of ebonists, into collection.
We have a variety of sources of investment. For example, at the beginning of the year, the family of Madat Kagarov, outstanding artist died in 2010, gave the museum about two hundred paintings and drawings, characterized by a profound philosophical content. The master created them in his later years.
A longtime friend of the museum, Kim Hyo Joon from Korea, has donated a unique collection of traditional Korean costume created by I Bok Sil, designer of House of national dress ‘Donhva’. The gift from cultural community of Japan, Global Artist Movement, includes a set of male and female Japanese national costume, national Japanese toys and other items of Japanese art.
There are also cultural treasures seized by law enforcement agencies, during their illegal export from Uzbekistan. Thus, the museum became the owner of the Chinese porcelain dish of 19th century, French tapestry of the 18th century, and series of paintings of 19-20 centuries. There are works of G. Semiradsky, V. Orlovsky, I. Ikonnikova, W. Tansikbaev, N. Karakhan, V. Ufimtseva, R. Choryev and other artists.
