Monumental and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan

Day : 1 Tashkent

Arrive in Tashkent. Tashkent - The Capital of Independent Uzbekistan, the cosmopolitan city in the heart of Central Asia, the crossroad of different cultures. The city was an ancient center of The Great Silk Road, and where still today you see the parts of the old city. After passport and customs transfer to hotel, check in, o/n.

Day : 2 Tashkent - Urgench - Khiva

After breakfast sightseeing tour of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. City tour includes the mixture of modern and Soviet style architecture with Islamic style and traditional ornaments. Visit Khazrat Imam Complex, experience daily life of locals at Chorsu bazaar where locals buy everything, from fruits to local handcrafts: national cradle hand-made musical instruments, vegetable and dry fruit etc. Continue to Independence Square, Monument of Courage dedicated to the earthquake in 1966, Repression Memorial, and TV tower. Afternoon transfer to airport for the flight HY 1057 to Urgench, arrive to Khorezm and transfer to Khiva, once the capital. Check in to hotel. 

Day : 3 Khiva

After breakfast start the walking tour of the old city. Experience the taste of this city museum that houses the most homogenous collection of architecture in Central Asia. Khiva is a UNESCO world heritage site; well preserved planning and monumental heritage. Visit: Kalta Minar, the Tomb of Sayid Allauddin, the Mausoleum of Pakhlavan Mahmud-the Patron of Khorezm, the Shergazi Khan Madrassah, the Islam Khodja Madrassah and Minaret, Juma Mosque, Tash Khauli and the harem. 

Day : 4 Khiva – Bukhara

Breakfast and morning drive through the Kyzyl-Kum Desert to Bukhara. En-route stop for panoramic view of the Amu-Darya (Oxus) river. Arrive to Bukhara check in to hotel. In the evening take a walk into the old city, once the place of the traders from around the globe.

Day : 5 Bukhara

Bukhara – “Vikhara” is the city with oriental mystery. Combine walking tour in the old city together with driving to the outskirts of the town. Visit: the center of old city Lyabi-Khauz complex, magnificent Kalon Complex. Afternoon drive to Sitorai-Mokhi-Khosa Palace - the Summer Palace of the last Emir, it has a beautiful stucco plaster interior decorations, huge banquet hall, and a collection of costumes, silver and porcelain from Ming Dynasty Period, truly outstanding as European culture in the East. Enjoy evening folk show(can be combined with dinner)at Nadir Divan-Begi Madrassah. 

Day : 6 Bukhara

Today continue city tour by the ancient architectures and history of Bukhara: Fortress Ark dating back from 4th century BC and mausoleum of Ismail Samani dating from IX-X the centuries, and Mausoleum of Chashma Ayub, tomb of Prophet Job, and the ancient walls of Bukhara. After visiting sights spend some time in the local bazaar. Afternoon visit to the Museum-House of local Merchant, who spent all his treasure for the revolution in 1920. Back to the hotel.

Day : 7 Bukhara

Last day in Bukhara spend morning visiting local pilgrimage sights: Chor Bakr Necropolis and Bakhautdin Nakshband Complex - these are the most popular places among locals. Afternoon is free to experience shopping in old town bazaar.

Day : 8 Bukhara – Gijduvan – Nurata

Breakfast and leave Bukhara to Gijduvan to visit family of artist for traditional ceramic to learn about motifs and unique colors. Continue driving to Nurata. Sightseeing tour of Nurata: Mosque and Madrassah on the holy spring sight of Nur-Ota, ruins of the fort supposable built by Alexander The Great as protection from nomads. Drive to Yurt camp in the desert.

Day : 9 Nurata

After breakfast ride on camels. Drive to the shore of the Lake Aydarkul. Picnic style lunch on the spot. Afternoon return to Yurt camp. Free time. 

Day : 10 Nurata – Samarkand

Check out from camp and drive to Samarkand. Upon arrival check in to the hotel and start you city tour in the former capital of Tamerlane. Start with Gur Emir - Tomb of Tamerlane and Timurids. This grand structure interior is decorated with marble, onyx and jade commemorating the power of the Warlord; continue with the Famous Registan Square. Outstanding Square with three Madrassah on it. Catch the sunset on Registan; people say that on sunset you can see the true colors of Registan. 

Day : 11 Samarkand

Continue your city tour after breakfast with the majestic monuments of the city. Visit museum of the Observatory of Ulugbek, the grandson of Tamerlane, who was one of the most sophisticated astronomers of his time; Museum of Archaeology, where objects from sight are on display, among them murals from 5th and 6th centuries A.D, later drive to Shakhi-Zinda complex, consisting of mausoleums from the 14th and 15th centuries. Here you may see examples of extraordinary craftsmanship displayed on the beautiful mosaic, majolica and terracotta panels, Bibi-Khanum Mosque is the grand Mosque of Timur named after his favorite wife. Then you have another opportunity to communicate with locals at Grand Bazaar of Samarkand Siyab. Afternoon continue to the local Museum based in the former mansion of the local Jewish bourgeois. The beautiful music hall is the “must to see”. Take a walk in the former Russian quarters of Samarkand still impressing with monumental heritage.

Day : 12 Samarkand– Shakhrisabz –Samarkand

Day trip to travel along the Silk Road of Samarkand to Shakhrisabz, the birthplace of Tamerlane. Upon arrival visit the ruins of Ak-Saray (White Palace) built by Amir Temur as a residence in the 14th and 15th centuries; visit Dorus-Saodat and Dorut-Tilovat complex. Afternoon drive back Samarkand. 

Day : 13 Samarkand – Tashkent

After breakfast drive back to the capital Tashkent through the countryside and pastureland. En-route cross the Sir Darya River. Arrive and check in to hotel. Afternoon is free to explore city on your own, experience the famous subway of Tashkent, the Department store and pedestrian street for the last chance of souvenir shopping.

Day : 14 Tashkent – Chimgan – Tashkent

Today explore outskirts of Tashkent, drive towards the mountains to Chimgan Mountains, the beautiful nature together with the stock of horses and the houses of shepherds. Continue to Charvak Lake, some free time and return back to the city.

Day : 15 Tashkent

Transfer to the International airport for the flight back to home.
